New Film Company fueled by deep passion in independent cinema
Handshake Media is a production company based in Birmingham, founded by filmmaker Gaurav Raturi. Dedicated to bringing authentic stories to a global audience, Handshake Media focuses on creating compelling, culturally rich narratives that resonate across borders. With a commitment to excellence in storytelling and production, the company aims to highlight diverse voices and experiences, making a significant impact on the international film industry. Gaurav Raturi was part of Indian short films ecosystem in 2008 when he founded Filmbooth to provide a space for short films in India. After screening more than 500 films over 100 independent screening and festival he started producing content. With a passion for authentic storytelling, he has produced numerous short films and formats that resonate with audiences worldwide. As a creative entrepreneur, he divides his time between Birmingham and London, continually pushing the boundaries of filmmaking. One of his notable series on women entrepreneurship in 2021 has garnered over 3 million views online, exemplifying his commitment to meaningful content and impact films. In 2020, Gaurav founded Cinemapreneur, India's pioneering OTT platform dedicated to independent filmmakers seeking global recognition. His mission is to elevate impactful stories and socially relevant narratives to mainstream audiences through both short formats and feature content. A TEDx speaker, Gaurav’s work has been showcased at international festivals and has received nomination at top critics' choice awards in India. In 2022, he joined BritAsia to establish a new creative arm, aiming to bring South Asian stories to the forefront and build a new studio for them along with creating a significant skilling Film & Content Bootcamp for adult learners in the UK. Currently, Gaurav is focused on securing financing for compelling stories through co-productions, grants, and alternative funding sources, ensuring that exceptional creative projects come to life.
